THE ALAMO

The Alamo was built as a home to Spanish Missionaries. Over time, the mission was turned into a fort. The buildings inside the fort included a chapel, a barracks for soldiers, a hospital room, a large courtyard and a horse corral. Cannons were placed along the wall and on top of the buildings. Fort Alamo was the site of a fierce battle between the Texans and the Mexicans.
