Beavers often live near rivers, streams, ponds, small lakes and marshes. They are well-known as a busy animal, burrowing in the banks of rivers and lakes as well as transforming unsuitable habitats by building dams. Dams are created when beavers build lodges of sticks and mud on islands and lake shores.
